We have a requirement for Surface Designer (Oil & Gas) position with a global technology company, that provides technology and services for the energy industry, including reservoir characterization, drilling & production
This position is responsible to work in collaboration with Engineers/ Team leads/ for developing Layouts, Models, Drafting, BOM’s for new and existing products. Duties also include reviewing work instructions; have a clear understanding and application of procedures and standards while developing design concepts, prepare required documentation for testing and installation.
Individual shall provide necessary information and services on matters that assist other taking decisions, also able to provide new ideas and suggestions in solving technical issues.
Roles, Responsibilities, Authorities and Accountabilities
Work in conjunction with Team leads and Engineers to help develop all aspects of a project.
Clearly understands, how the entire team integrates with other teams to achieve overall objectives of the company and product.
Generate detailed designs and drawings, concepts, and general arrangement drawings, interface drawings in both 2D and 3D.
Create / Identify optimal dimensional schemes based on the design intent, create tolerance stack up analysis
The job requires an in-depth understanding and application of procedures and concepts in design.
This is expected level to fully create designs independent of existing drawings using the bill of material and technical knowledge of subsea products. Prepare required documentation BOM, assembly procedures, FAT, Rig Books etc.
Generate meticulous, detailed, and thorough documentation and reports
Understands and communicates job requirements and design intent to others
Ensure corrective actions for design issues are addressed appropriately and implemented in a timely manner.
Responsible for Quality and timeliness of the work executed
Actively Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness meetings.
May or may not perform a supervisory role.
Accountable for Individual actions.
Accountable to meet the set objectives defined for the calendar year.
Accountable for overall project completion, NCR’s & FPRs.
Authority to stop work on any safety related concerns.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Diploma Mechanical Engineering /Automobile engineering or equivalent.
- 1 to 5 years of design and drafting experience.
- Strong analytical, mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Proven experience working with 3D design/drafting.
- Good organizational skills, self-starter.
- Ability to communicate clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Work well within a team environment.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Related Oil and Gas experience.
- Working Knowledge on SAP PLM.
- Expertise in Inventor / AutoCAD/ or any equivalent 3D modelling Software.
- Thorough knowledge on GD&T Principles and application.
- Knowledge in any subsea products like Christmas tree, Wellhead, Connector, Manifolds, Gate valve etc.
- Knowledge on Hydraulics and P&ID’s.
